Our company is custom software and web application consultancy with a diverse client base and even more diverse set of technologies that we work with.

We are looking for a talented Designer and Web Developer to work with us on a contract basis for several ongoing projects. The quality of the HTML and CSS that you produce as well as your ability to turn projects around quickly is paramount to this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce mockups of designs for our approval and customer approval.
  • Produce quality HTML and CSS code.
  • Deliver what you commit to, when you commit to do it.
  • Make changes in a timely manor, in some cases our response times are specified by contract.
  • Ability to work independently but still interface with our team using our online toolset (Version Control and Issue Tracking).

Required Skills:

  • CVS and/or Subversion (SVN) version control systems

    This is an essential part of our processes, please do not submit a resume if you have no experience with one of these or with another unreserved checkout version control system.
  • HTML using CSS (not table) based layouts

    We want layouts with minimal and appropriate (ie everything is not a div) HTML and images only when necessary for the desired look (ie, not when the images is just text in a larger font). We find these and other good practices make sites easier to maintain, and more accessible by default. We strongly prefer valid XHTML Transitional or Strict.
  • Adobe CS2, especially Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Flash

    We are moving away from Flash, but have some legacy Flash to maintain.

Additional Skills

Some of these would be nice to have are listed here in order of importance. These are not central to this job:

  • Perl
  • Javascript
  • Experience with using a Unix/Linux shell
  • Marketing and branding experience
  • PHP, ASP or ASP.NET/C#, or some other environment where code is mixed in with HTML
  • Experience administering Linux, particularly Debian

Customer Service - Home-based!!

VIPdesk coordinates the delivery of personal and convenience services to help busy people get things done. We accomplish this through our proprietary software applications and virtual personal service delivery platform. To add to our existing team of 75 concierges today, we are seeking several more high-energy professionals to join our team!

The home-based Remote Concierge position is the focal point of VIPdesk’s concierge platform. Successful candidates will serve as concierge experts by assisting and responding to customer requests for information via phone and email. The Concierge will obtain the necessary information through a variety of resources (internet, team member or their own personal experience, etc.) and communicate responses to our client’s customers in a prompt and concise manner.

At this time we are looking for full-time or part-time candidates. VIPdesk operates 24/7/365. Full-time Concierges will be required to work 40 hours weekly, currently broken into 8.5-hour shifts. Part-time Concierges will be required to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, currently broken into shifts between 3 and 8.5 hours in length, not to exceed 34 hours weekly. Weekend and holiday work is required. Fluency in English is required. Fluency in one of the following languages is a plus: French, German, Spanish or Italian.

We are currently seeking candidates with the following availability:

  • Full-time: Monday-Sunday, 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET
  • Part-time: Monday-Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET

Please note, this does not mean that you will be working 12 hours per day, we just ask that all Concierges be available 12 hours per day so we have some flexibility to adjust your schedule to best service our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide concierge services to our client’s customers.
  • Handle customer requests from home office via phone and email.
  • Research and fulfill requests including restaurant and hotel reservations and recommendations, auto rental, gift recommendations, golf tee times, travel and destination information, or assistance with everyday tasks such as ticket purchases, or finding a quality house cleaning service.
  • Apply high quality customer service guidelines when fulfilling customer requests.
  • Provide local expertise for area activities, events, restaurants, hotels, etc.
  • Conduct and fulfill requests as needed, which may include providing immediate information, referring local service partners, or working off line to conduct research related to the customer’s request.
  • Communicate response to user in a clear, timely and concise manner via phone and email.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs.
  • May serve as backup to other client programs when needed.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years related customer service experience.
  • Hospitality and Service orientation a must, direct experience is highly desirable.
  • Some college required. Degree preferred.
  • Internet savvy – ability to obtain information quickly utilizing online resources and search engines.
  • Computer literacy required - able to successfully navigate and maneuver across multiple applications simultaneously including our CRM application, AOL Instant Messenger, Internet Explorer, MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Able to learn quickly in a technical environment.
  • Able to type at least 35 wpm.
  • Highly resourceful, strong investigative nature and knowledge of various market offerings.
  • Outstanding customer satisfaction and follow through skills; understanding the highest levels of customer service.
  • Polite, friendly and knowledgeable phone demeanor.
  • Detail oriented, ability to multitask, strong sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.
  • Capable of applying experience, training and learned skills when fulfilling standard requests according to specified company standards, policies and procedures as well as any client specializations.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work weekend and holiday hours.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, comprehend and speak French, German, Italian or Spanish is preferred.
  • Highly adaptable, self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  • Able to successfully pass a credit, criminal and employment reference security check.
  • Able to provide a work at home environment that is ergonomically sound, conducive to taking customer calls, quiet and free from distraction.
  • Remote Concierge will be required to supply a computer and telephone that meets the minimum hardware requirements as outlined on our web site.

Great job for college students!!! I am acquisitions manager at a real estate investment firm here in the DFW area and I need an on call project person to go and see properties for me. This is an easy very part time position that pays per project. I have a property evaluation sheet that is a short form you fill out about the property then email it and the pics to me. Then I cut you a check – simple and it doesn’t take much time at all. We work ALL over the DFW area so I will need you in garland, rowlett, rockwall, richardson, mesquite, etc. – just so you know.

Part-time Proofreader

This position pays $8.00 per hour. The ideal candidate will be able to work up to 10 hours per week, with the understanding that hours vary per project and are not guaranteed. Projects must be error free and delivered by deadline. Applicants will be required to complete an initial exam. Upon receiving a qualifying score, the applicant will receive further instructions for the next step of the application process. Requirements for this position include:

* Ability to work up to 10 hours per week and return assignments error-free and on time.
* One year experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver.
